Journalist and business author Michael Smith, representing Initiatives of Change, advocated five pillars of trust in the economy when he gave the opening keynote address to the 31st annual Businet conference on 9 November. Over 200 business educators, including professors, academics, lecturers and heads of departments, took part in the conference, held in Vilamoura, Portugal, 9 to 11 November. Businet, founded in 1994, is a 'global business education network' with 102 member organizations of higher education in 31 countries.

Michigan State University bestowed upon Rajmohan Gandhi an honorary humanities doctorate in East Lansing, Michigan on 17 December 2016. Professor Rajmohan Gandhi works closely with Initiatives of Change and served as President from 2009-2010. He lectured as a Hannah Distinguished Visiting Professor at Michigan State University during the fall semester and was awarded during the university’s commencement ceremonies.
Last week an international forum in Lebanon brought together political and religious leaders, academics and diplomats to explore how the country can become ‘a space for dialogue among civilisations and cultures’. Held at Notre Dame University (NDU) in Beirut, it was hosted by the University and the Lebanon Dialogue Initiative (LDI) in partnership with Initiatives of Change.
